Those early 60's and late 70's snow piles were brutal. Grand Haven piled their snow in the boulevard, which made traversing the intersections an iffy attempt. Many inched their family station wagons through them slowly, hoping that the orange tennis balls on top of their (now obsolete) tall radio antennas made them visible to oncoming traffic.
15 years later in Jackson we noticed it rarely got lots of snow-except for Dec 78- but it was always cold. We had a brand new baby then, yet once Hubby shoveled the walk and driveway, he took the baby out all bundled up for a short, brisk walk. He was not on the work schedule that weekend, but State Prison Employees were either locked in, or picked up at their homes by military vehicles so the facility would be fully staffed for the few days of impossible travel there. Quite a memorable ordeal. Thanks for your great forecasting.
