Mild Pattern Lasts Through Midweek
High Temperatures in the low-mid 40s from Tuesday through Thursday
The warmer weather will last through the middle of the week with high temperatures in the low-mid 40s. Our snow will continue to melt.
Here’s some peak wind gusts from Monday, with Holland topping the list at 47 mph.
High temperatures Monday ranged from 51 at Benton Harbor and Traverse City (where they get a couple of degrees of “downslope warming” to 38 at the beach in Muskegon (which was reached at 9 pm.
After a relatively cold period across the contiguous U.S. from early January to mid-February, much of the country is experiencing warmer than average temperatures.
High temperatures today in southern Lower Michigan will be in the mid-upper 40s. Look at the warm air in the Plains today, with a forecast high temperature of 70 at Grand Island NE and 73 at Dodge City KS.
Here’s what it looks like for the next 4 days…it may be mostly cloudy at times, but I think we can get away with partly sunny for this Tuesday with high temperatures in th mid-upper 40s. We’ll see a period of rain on Wednesday with maybe a little wet snow mixed in north and northeast of Grand Rapids (main roads just wet).
Then a chance of a light rain or snow shower on Thursday - no big deal. Friday should be mostly cloudy with breaks in the clouds and a high in the upper 30s.
Here’s Saturday afternoon temperatures. Cooler air spreads down into the Great Lakes and Northeast. Look for a mid-afternoon temp. of 31 in Grand Rapids, just 19 up at Sault Ste. Marie.
It's a nice reprieve from what has been a very long winter with no real sustained thaw until this week, it's a nice taste of Spring!
