Looks like the boating season has begun on Lake Michigan!
Here’s a pic. from the GLERL webcam atop the South Haven Lighthouse. You’re looking to the northwest across the channel and out into Lake Michigan. The pic. is from the afternoon of Thursday, Feb. 19. There aren’t any significant ripples by the canoe, so I guess this person was not going too fast. The water temperature was 32.2 degrees.
Here’s another sign of spring. Either late Thursday or Friday, then took down the Christmas tree that was in the middle of Main Street on Mackinac Island. Lots of snow there. Not too far to the north, S. Ste. Marie has had 144.4” of snow this winter. That’s 49.8” above average-to-date. Tahquamenon Falls has had 183.4”. Sometime in March, they’ll like join the 200” Club.
