It's been a Warm, Wet and Windy Month
Cooler Pattern Relative to Average for much of the rest of March
Here’s another fine pic. from John Sculley. I believe that’s the moon providing the sparkle to Lake Michigan.
First of all, we have a Wind Advisory for today. This is for the lakeshore counties. The immediate lakeshore has the best chance of reaching Wind Advisory criteria. We’re expecting some gusts this afternoon to reach 35-45 mph.
There are also Gale Warnings for Lake Michigan for waves increasing to 5-9 feet. Winds will be from the southwest, increasing to 20-30 mph.
We’d like to thank our sponsors, ACE Handyman and Complete Care Concierge, LLC.
March has been a windy month. So far, the average wind speed in Grand Rapids this month has been 12 mph and we’ve had 5 days with gusts over 40 mph (today could be the 6th. Partly because of the wind stirring the air, we have not had any heavy fog this month.
The average temperature so far this month has been 40.2°. That’s a whopping 6.6 degrees warmer than average. That number will go down with a cooler pattern relative to average for the last third of the month. The warmest this month was 76° on the 14th and the coolest was 18° on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd.
Precipitation (rain and melted snow) has totaled 2.2” and that’s 3/4” above average. There has been 1.2” of snowfall in Grand Rapids. The snow magnet has been up in the U.P. Marquette has already had 27.1” this month and they’ll get several days with at least snow showers before the month is over.
We’ve also had a very pleasant 50% of possible sunshine this month.
ALSO: Massive wildfire in South Korea. Huge eruption of Mt. Kilauea in Hawaii on Thursday. Pretty snowfall in Andorra. Large dust storm in Saudi Arabia.
As always, thanks for reading my blog.
I enjoy everything about this vlog ❤️
