Hello, everyone. It’s Daughter #3.
I’m helping Dad with this platform. Just call me Mr. Producer, or the-Peter-Doocy-of-this-operation.
I have the tiniest little bit of marketing experience from being an independent contractor for Ford Motor Company’s SEO team for a couple of years. While I was in that role, I used my friends and family discount to get a Mach-E, which I really like. I didn’t buy it to take an environmental stance or anything, I just really like the car. So if anyone wants to talk about electric vehicles, hit me up in the comments.
Anyways, Dad says since I’m his little producer for this website, it’s my platform, too, and I’m free to share whatever I like on it. I’ll try not to bore you with Alabama weather (I’ve lived in Alabama for the past 1.5 years).
This is the snow on the ground at our home in Alabama on January 10, 2025. (Alt text: Snow on ground and tree from porch of home).
This is a Seinfeld-esque post about nothing.
I titled it How Are Your Tomatoes? because growing tomatoes is one of dad’s hobbies. When I call the “Weather Info Hotline” (dad) on my phone in the summer, he’s always good for a tomato update. “How are your tomatoes?” is my phrase for chit-chat, or just talking about how things are going.
The southern winter storm went south of us here in Birmingham, AL. But that didn’t stop it from affecting us. I was supposed to fly at 5:30 a.m. today to Charlotte to catch a flight to London. That flight got canceled. Fortunately, I checked my phone around midnight, so I was aware of it before driving to the airport at 3:30 in the morning. We’ve reconfigured, and we’re flying out later today.
I suspect the cancelation was weather-related, because CLT airport got hit with some snow. The aviation industry really depends on skilled meteorologists. Many of my coworkers in aviation ground operations have an interest in meteorology and are very knowledgeable in it.
I’m headed to Nottingham, UK, to take part in a Come and Sing day, led by one of the world’s best choral arrangers, John Rutter. If you have a background in choral music, you know his work well. He hosts open sings for charity, where anyone can pay a small fee and join his choir for the day. The event is sold out with 850 participants. I’ll take lots of pictures, and Dad and I will do a travel log when I get back.
So for those of you who found this post and read this far, How Are Your Tomatoes? I hope you have a great day.
