You mentioned Oct 3 as the first reported outcome of the 1918 flu. My Grandpa fought in France and research on his engagement there took me to websites about the flu. Apparently the earliest occurrences were first noticed in France? So now they are rethinking the nickname...which I doubt will or should change in common parlance. Speaking of the Flu, my dad once told me that I was "related to half the people in Ferrysburg." . Turns out the deadly flu had a lot to do with that. As spouses passed away -then, and 18 months or so later with a mini-recurrence- relatives with young children married other folks in similar situations, joining multiple families. Reasonable; sensible- in a small village. Thanks for digging up the historical dates for each day that you post !
