Bill's New Blog - Stopping Other Substack Notifications
Do you want to stop getting non-Bill Substack notifications? Here's how.
Thanks for subscribing to billsteffen.com on substack. We got the feedback that at least one of you isn’t a fan of the other, non-Bill content that Substack is sending you as a subscriber. There is a way to stop receiving those other notifications while staying subscribed to Bill’s content. There’s a place in your settings where you can manage your subscriptions.
Here’s how:
Step One: In Substack, click on your profile (your picture, but if you haven’t uploaded a photo, a yellow-orangish icon in the top right corner). If you’re starting from my emailing this to you, click on my picture (or dad’s picture, not sure which one you’ll see), and that will take you into Substack where you can click on your own icon.
Then select “Settings.”
Step Two: Select “On Substack” or “Substack Reads”
If you are new to Substack, like we are, and you haven’t altered your default settings, you’re likely subscribed to “On Substack” and “Substack Reads.”
Step Three: Press the “Unsubscribe” button to unsubscribe from all of these notifications, or choose the subcategories that you want to unsubscribe from.
Step Four: Repeat for the other category, “On Substack” or “Substack Reads,” and anything else that you may be signed up for that you don’t want.
Alternative Options: While it does help us if you subscribe, (all hail the algorithms), it’s not necessary for you to subscribe to Substack to view our site. Billsteffen.com is a regular website, too. You can completely unsubscribe, and then go in your web browser to billsteffen.com. Then, select “continue without subscribing,” and you can view all of Bill’s content whenever you like. You won’t get notifications of new content this way, but you still have the same access, just like going to any other website. We’re getting many more hits a day than we have subscribers, so there must be a lot of people doing it that way. That’s great - whatever works for you!
Also, the daily forecasts are on YouTube. You can subscribe there (we’d prefer if you subscribed both places, again all hail the algorithms), but it’s not necessary to view content. You can just come back to check.
I hope that helps! Have a great day!
